ATLANTA - State Representative Sylvia Wayfer Baker (D-Douglasville) was sworn into office as a member of the Georgia House of Representatives on Monday, January 13, 2025, marking her first day of the 2025-2026 legislative term.
"I'm excited for the upcoming session and ready to get to work for the people of Georgia," said Rep. Baker. "This year brings opportunities to address critical issues like education, public health and economic development. I look forward to collaborating with my colleagues to craft solutions that will benefit all Georgians."
In addition to being officially sworn in, the Georgia House of Representatives' Committee on Assignments named Rep. Baker to the Code Revision, Defense and Veterans Affairs and Special Rules committees.
The House Committee on Assignments, chaired by House Speaker Jon Burns (R-Newington), is charged with making all House committee assignments for the members of the Georgia House of Representatives.
Representative Sylvia Wayfer Baker represents the citizens of District 64, which includes a portion of Douglas County. She first was elected to the House of Representatives in 2024 and currently serves on the Code Revision, Defense and Veterans Affairs and Special Rules committees.
