Missouri Route 185 now open at Swan Branch Bridge in Washington County

Closed for bridge deck replacement July 22 - Sept. 3

JEFFERSON CITY, Mo . - Missouri Route 185 , northwest of Potosi , is now open. Construction crews working with the Missouri Department of Transportation (MoDOT) completed the replacement of the bridge deck (driving surface) over Swan Branch and were able to reopen the road to all traffic today, Sept. 3, ahead of schedule . The bridge had been closed since July 22 .

At its April 2026 meeting, t he Missouri Highways and Transportation Commission awarded a $4,050,487.98 contract to Louis-Company, LLC to complete the bridge deck replacement project on Route 185 . The contract also includes bridge deck replacements on the Ashley Branch Bridge on Washington County Route W (completed) and three bridge deck replacements on Route 8 over Allen Cr eek , Mid Fork Fourche a Ren a ult and North Fork Fourche a Ren a ult . The schedule for the Route 8 projects is yet to be determined .
