OGE publishes a New Interim Final Regulation Excluding Certain Schedule Policy/Career Employees from Public Filing

July 23, 2026

The U.S. Office of Government Ethics (OGE) published an interim final rule excluding positions from filing a public financial disclosure report if the requirement to file a public report derives solely from being placed into Schedule Policy/Career. Individuals whose positions previously required filing a public financial disclosure report will continue to so file, and individuals whose positions previously required filing a confidential financial disclosure report will continue to so file.

This rule is effective as of July 23, 2026, the date the interim final regulation was published in the Federal Register.

OGE is soliciting comments on this interim final regulation. Comments can be sent to [email protected] and must be received on or before August 24, 2026. The Federal Register notice is available here.
