Australia-Dentons has been awarded Silver in the Microsoft 365 solutions and adoption category of the global Step Two 2025 Intranet and Digital Workplace Awards, recognising the firm's innovative document management solution, Springboard. This feature-rich platform streamlines the creation and management of precedents, client documents, and company policies.
Now in its nineteenth year, the Step Two Awards celebrate excellence in intranets, digital workplaces, and employee experience. The awards highlight solutions that deliver tangible business value and showcase the talented teams behind them.
Springboard is Dentons' secure, Microsoft 365-powered solution for automating the development, approval, publishing, and maintenance of controlled documents. It offers the firm a simplified user experience, deeper integration with Microsoft 365 tools, enhances compliance reporting and supports our client expectations around regulatory adherence.
Kate Eginton, Dentons' Australia Head of Knowledge and Project Lead said, "We're thrilled to be recognised by the Step Two Awards for our work on Springboard. This project was driven by a desire to simplify and modernise how we manage critical documents across the firm. By harnessing the power of Microsoft 365 and SharePoint, we've created a solution that not only improves efficiency and compliance but also enhances the user experience. It's incredibly rewarding to see our team's innovation and hard work acknowledged on a global stage."
Amber Warren, Dentons' Australia Chair and Australasia Region CEO added, "Springboard has been a game-changer for how we manage and govern our controlled documents. It supports our legal and regulatory obligations while making it easier for our teams to access and acknowledge key policies and precedents. This recognition reflects our commitment to continuous improvement and leveraging technology to meet the evolving needs of our clients and our firm."
As part of the award announcement, Dentons received high praise from the judging panel for its innovative approach to document management and workflow design.
One judge noted the boldness of the initiative, stating:
"Any initiative to move a law firm off of iManage is incredibly challenging. The custom Policies Acknowledgement feature is impressive. The document review, approval, and disposition workflows are important and well thought out."
Another judge highlighted the adaptability of the solution:
"I really like how the solution has been adopted for different use cases that continue to expand, with a new one based on partner onboarding currently in development."
The judges also commended the thoughtful integration of existing technology:
"It's good to see that this solution makes the most of their existing technology and addresses the pain points and requirements gathered. It's great that both the front-facing and admin back-end interfaces were considered to help users."
Finally, the migration to SharePoint was recognised as a significant achievement:
"It's great to see a migration from a complex document management system to a clean SharePoint library for key documents such as precedents and corporate policies. There's good utilisation of out-of-the-box functionality, with a few key webparts developed to support things like mandatory acknowledgement of updated policies."
These comments reflect the strength of Dentons' commitment to innovation, user experience, and continuous improvement in legal operations.
