Winnipeg, MB- The Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service (WFPS) responded to two structure fires this evening.
Pritchard Avenue fire
At 5:09 p.m. on Wednesday, January 22, 2025, WFPS crews responded to reports of a fire in a one-and-a-half storey, single-family house in the 800 block of Pritchard Avenue.
Upon arrival on scene, crews found smoke and flames coming from the house. Firefighters launched an interior fire attack, declaring the fire under control at 5:35 p.m.
All occupants of the house safely self-evacuated. No injuries were reported. Firefighters located three cats in the house. Two were uninjured, and the third was revived. Winnipeg Animal Services attended the scene to resume care of the animals.
The fire is under investigation. Damage estimates are not available.
Berry Street fire
At 4:07 p.m. on Wednesday, January 22, 2025, the WFPS responded to reports of a fire in a large industrial building in the 600 block of Berry Street.
When crews arrived at the scene, they found smoke coming from the building. They launched an offensive fire attack, declaring the fire under control at 5:48 p.m.
All employees at the facility safely self-evacuated. No injuries were reported.
At 7:30 p.m., crews were once again dispatched to the scene after a previously undetected hotspot had reignited. The fire was quickly brought under control.
The fire is under investigation. Damage estimates are not available.
