County Road 240 guardrail project begins Monday, to last five weeks

The La Plata County Road & Bridge Department has contracted for guardrail improvements on County Road 240 (Florida Road) from mile marker 6 near Edgemont to mile marker 9.2 near CR 246. The project is scheduled to begin Monday, Nov. 17 and be completed by Friday, Dec. 26, depending on weather.

The project will involve raising or replacing 3.2 miles of guardrail along CR 240. Traffic will be reduced to a single lane for most of the project's duration.

Regular working hours will be from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday. Delays of up to 20 minutes should be anticipated. However, every attempt will be made to minimize traffic delays during peak morning and afternoon commuting hours. Motorists are encouraged to allow a little extra travel time for their commute and to drive with caution through the work zone, for their own safety and the safety of the work crews.

*Inclement weather or equipment breakdowns could cause a delay of scheduled completion dates.
