THURSDAY OCTOBER 29, 2026, | WASHTENAW, MI - Chelsea State Bank and its employees made a $2,122 donation to the Dexter Senior Center, an organization that provides space for senior citizens to enjoy companionship and entertainment while also focusing on their overall wellbeing. The dollars raised for this donation came from Chelsea State Bank (CSB) employees and a bank match as part of their ongoing Blue Jean for Charity Fund.
"Dexter Senior Center is an important pillar within the Dexter Community, ensuring older adults age healthily while providing a sense of purpose and belonging," said Joanne Rau, President and CEO, Chelsea State Bank. "Their members have the option to participate in classes that encourage movement, creativity, and socialization. In partnership with Jewish Family Services, they also fill a critical need in Western Washtenaw through their Meal on Wheels program which provides essential food delivery to adults, ages 60+ who are primarily home bound."
Over 10 years ago, Chelsea State Bank employees kicked off their Blue Jeans for Charity fund to raise money for local charities. Employees donate $3 per person weekly, allowing them to wear jeans to work on Fridays. Chelsea State Bank then matches the employee donations for the selected non-profit agency.
"We are grateful to receive this donation from Chelsea State Bank," said Anna Pekrul, Executive Director, Dexter Senior Center. "It remains important to us to offer affordable membership to older adults in the Dexter community. Donations like this continue to help us offer affordable programming and services that help our members stay connected with the people and services that matter most. Local institutions like Chelsea State Bank play an important role in strengthening our community, and we appreciate their support in making the center an affordable, welcoming place to connect, learn, and stay active."
