Andrea J. Barefield Begins Term as Texas Municipal League President

The City of Waco is proud to announce that District One Councilmember Andrea J. Barefield has officially assumed the office of President for the Texas Municipal League (TML). Councilmember Barefield previously served as the organization's president-elect.

Councilmember Barefield brings extensive municipal leadership experience and a deep commitment to public service to her new role as TML president. As a Waco councilmember and longtime advocate for local government, she is an active and respected leader within TML, among municipal officials in Texas, and nationwide. In addition to her leadership position in TML, Barefield also serves as president of the Texas Association of Black City Council Members, a TML affiliate group, and as a member of the National League of Cities Board of Directors.

"Councilmember Barefield is a passionate advocate for Texas cities and understands firsthand the opportunities and challenges facing local governments today," said TML Executive Director Monty Wynn. "We look forward to her leadership as TML continues working on behalf of cities and the Texans they serve."

Councilmember Barefield will serve as TML President through the 2027 TML Annual Conference and Exhibition. Please join us in congratulating her as she begins this new chapter of service representing Waco and all Texas cities.
