CONGRESSMAN CARLOS GIMENEZ BACKS PRESIDENT TRUMP’S PROPOSAL TO REMOVE NICARAGUA FROM THE CAFTA
MIAMI, FL - Today, Congressman Carlos A. Gimenez released the following statement after President Donald Trump proposed removing Nicaragua from the Central America Free Trade Agreement (CAFTA) and imposing 100% tariffs on the dictatorial Ortega regime.
"As the representative of the City of Sweetwater, home to the largest community of Nicaraguan exiles in the United States, I fully support President Trump's proposal to remove Nicaragua from the Central America Free Trade Agreement and impose 100% tariffs on the murderous Ortega-Murillo regime until it releases all political prisoners and agrees to hold free and democratic elections," said Congressman Carlos Gimenez. "I will always stand with the brave people of Nicaragua who have suffered firsthand the countless human rights violations of this dictatorship and who continue to fight to restore freedom and democracy in their homeland."
