Trump Says Strait of Hormuz “Could Be” Still Blocked By Labor Day, Forcing Americans to Pay Sky-High Gas Prices Through Summer Arrow

On a podcast released today, Donald Trump dismissed Americans' concerns about high prices for basic necessities like groceries and gas, calling the economy "unbelievable." When asked if he thought the Strait of Hormuz would still be closed by Labor Day, Trump said, "I don't know. I think it could be."

Since Trump started his unpopular war of choice with Iran, global fuel stockpiles are nearing the lowest levels on record, and analysts warn that if the Strait does not reopen imminently, prices at the pump will continue to soar for Americans. The average price of gas has climbed to $4.26 per gallon, and the average U.S. household has already spent an additional $450 on rising energy costs because of Trump's war - nearly $60 billion nationally in total extra costs.

In response,DNC Rapid Response Director Kendall Witmer released the following statement:

"Donald Trump has no idea how to get himself out of his deadly and costly war with Iran - and no concern for the Americans who are struggling to get by in his economy as a result. Trump's actions have caused gas prices to skyrocket, forcing up the prices of food, utilities, and other everyday essentials, with no relief in sight. Meanwhile, Trump is hailing his economy as 'unbelievable' - another slap in the face to the millions of working families struggling to just get by." As prices continue to climb and his approval numbers hit record lows, Trump is hiding from the American people: He has had no public events since his cabinet meeting one week ago.
