CONCORD, NH - Today, Governor Kelly Ayotte joined the New Hampshire Department of Agriculture and New Hampshire Maple Producers Association at Sunnyside Maples in Loudon for a ceremonial tree tapping to kick off New Hampshire Maple Weekend.
"New Hampshire Maple Weekend is a time-honored tradition, and I'm proud to support the hardworking maple producers who have carried it on for generations," said Governor Ayotte. "I encourage everyone to go out and visit a local sugarhouse this weekend. Whether it's mixed into your morning coffee or poured over a stack of pancakes, New Hampshire maple syrup is the best there is!"
The Governor also highlighted the New Hampshire Department of Agriculture's "Natively New Hampshire" initiative to showcase home-grown agricultural products in the Granite State.
Maple Weekend is a statewide celebration of New Hampshire maple syrup. For one weekend in March, participating sugarhouses welcome visitors to experience how maple syrup is made. The New Hampshire Maple Producers Association publishes its annual "Maple Map" of sugarhouses that are open for Maple Weekend here.
