Red Hat partnership brings Horizon 8 flexibility

At Omnissa ONE this year, we emphasized the need for an open and integrated ecosystem to maximize IT value. This means giving you the flexibility to leverage the solutions that best align with your operational model to enhance and secure your digital workspace productivity.

Today, we are excited to share a new collaboration with Red Hat to deliver more hypervisor choice to Omnissa Horizon 8 customers. We are collaborating with the Red Hat team to develop a solution that allows Horizon 8-based virtual desktops and apps to run on the Red Hat OpenShift Virtualization platform. This joint initiative, in the next few months, will enable customers to leverage their existing Horizon virtual machine infrastructure investment while adopting Red Hat container-native services to deliver and manage virtual desktops and published apps efficiently.

Horizon 8, an industry-leading VDI and apps platform, is used by tens of thousands of global customers using on-premises, hybrid, and multi-cloud infrastructure. It offers capabilities such as on-demand app delivery and management, dynamic environment management, and secure access gateway.

Red Hat OpenShift Virtualization, helps Red Hat OpenShift customers manage their VMs alongside containers with the same management tools and processes.

What does all this mean? A more unified solution to streamline the deployment of virtual desktops, published apps, and containerized workload deployment. Further, IT will be able to manage your deployed VDI and container workload estate better with complete visibility.

While we work toward the fully integrated solution, customers can already deploy and manage Horizon 8 manual pools and farms with OpenShift today. Our Omnissa community blog provides more details on what's supported today and how to get started.

We are excited to collaborate with Red Hat to give IT teams more flexibility, control, and a clearer modernization path.
