Clay County road and lane closure report July 4-10, 2026

Branscomb Road, Dr. Ira Drive, Oak Grove, and Oak Park Circle paving (Lake Asbury)- Crews anticipate beginning paving work on Branscomb Road from Henley Road to Wesley Road in early to mid-July, after completion of the CR209 Riverside paving. Crews will then move to Doctor Ira Drive, Oak Grove Drive, and Oak Park Circle off CR209B for paving work. Drivers should anticipate daytime, single-lane closures with flaggers for up to two weeks.

Bear Run and Camp Francis Johnson local road resurfacing (Lakeside)- Crews expect to begin a resurfacing project on several local roads in the Bear Run and Camp Francis Johnson neighborhoods in late July to early August. Drivers should anticipate daytime single-lane closures with flaggers once work begins. Work is expected to take 3-4 weeks to complete.

New County Projects

County Road 220 at Arena Road temporary lane closure (Fleming Island) - Anticipate a daytime, single-lane closure on July 6, 7, and 9 on County Road 220 at Arena Road for concrete work at Fire Station 22.

Ongoing County Projects

County Road 209 (Russell Road) from Peters Creek Bridge to US 17, Bonded Transportation Program project #2 (Lake Asbury)- Widen the roadway to four lanes with a median, turn lanes, bike lanes, curb and gutter, and sidewalks from CR 315B to US 17 and from CR 315 to south of Peters Creek Bridge. Drivers should expect single-lane closures, delays, and occasional weekend work through spring 2027. Crews may work at night to reduce daytime impacts and finish faster, which could cause temporary noise, vibration, and lighting for nearby residents.

County Road 209 (Russell Road) from Sandridge Road to Peters Creek Bridge, Bonded Transportation Program project 3B (Lake Asbury)- Widening and realigning the east end of Sandridge Road (CR 739B) where it connects to County Road 209B, along with operational improvements at the County Road 209 and County Road 209B intersection to improve traffic flow and safety. Motorists should expect a 25 mph low-speed zone and day and nighttime single-lane closures in the work area. The project is anticipated to be completed in summer 2026.

County Road 209 Riverside and Heath Road resurfacing (Green Cove Springs)- On June 30, crews began a resurfacing project on County Road 209 Riverside from U.S. 17 to Ivey Lane, and on Heath Road from County Road 209 to U.S. 17. Motorists should expect daytime single-lane closures with flaggers directing traffic throughout construction. Please use caution in the work zone and plan for possible travel delays. Work is anticipated to be complete the week of July 6.

County Road 218, Bonded Transportation Program project #1 (Middleburg) - Widen and reconstruct a 2.7-mile roadway from Masters Road to Pine Tree Lane into four lanes with a median, turn lanes, curbs, gutters, sidewalks, and bike lanes, and resurface the road from Cosmos Avenue to Pine Tree Lane. Drivers should expect lane closures, traffic shifts, and a 25 mph speed limit throughout the work zone. Crews may work at night to reduce daytime impacts and finish faster, which could cause temporary noise, vibration, and lighting for nearby residents. Project completion is expected in summer 2026.

County Road 220 widening and reconstruction Phase 1 and Phase 2 projects (Middleburg/Lakeside) - Phase 1 work began in December 2024 and includes intersection improvements at Rideout Ferry Road. Phase 2 work began on January 20, 2025, and includes the construction of a new four-lane bridge over Little Black Creek. Both phases are expected to be completed in late 2026, with detours in place throughout the project. Crews may work at night to reduce daytime impacts and finish faster, which could cause temporary noise, vibration, and lighting for nearby residents.

County Road 220 drainage repairs (Lakeside/Middleburg)- On June 29, crews began a drainage improvement project on County Road 220 between Knight Boxx Road and Legacy Farm Road. Motorists should expect a temporary traffic shift and barrier wall installation in the work zone. Construction is expected to take up to 60 days to complete. Please use caution when traveling through the area and allow extra travel time if needed.

County Road 315/ Cathedral Oak Parkway utility work (Green Cove Springs)- Anticipate daytime, single-lane closures on County Road 315 north to Cathedral Oak Parkway Monday through Saturday, from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. for gas main installation work. We will update this notice when the work is complete.

Dirt road improvement projects (Middleburg, Lake Asbury, Green Cove Springs, and Keystone Heights)- On June 22, crews began making dirt road improvements on Black Creek Drive, Becky Street, and Saunders Drive in Middleburg. Crews will then begin working on Waller Way in Lake Asbury, and on Shedd Road and Brown Road in Green Cove Springs. Once this work is complete, crews will move to the south end of Keystone Heights to work on Grove Road, Holly Hill Road, and Oakview Road. Work includes base stabilization and double chipseal application to the road surface. Drivers should anticipate intermittent, daytime, single-lane closures and flagging operations once work begins.

Lakeview Street and Hilltop Street dirt road paving project (Keystone Heights) - Crews began paving Lakeview Street, Hilltop Street, and a portion of Southwest Pecan Street on June 1. The work includes base preparation, asphalt paving, driveway tie-ins, drainage improvements, signage, and pavement markings. Motorists should expect daytime single-lane closures during the work.

Old Jennings Road/ Long Bay Road new traffic signal and intersection improvements (Middleburg) - Crews began installing a new traffic signal and making improvements at the intersection of Old Jennings Road and Long Bay Road in Middleburg on March 2, 2026. Drivers should anticipate daytime, single-lane closures and traffic shifts managed by flagging crews on weekdays and some weekends during the work. This is a busy area, especially during morning and afternoon peak hours. Drivers should slow down and follow all construction signs to ensure everyone's safety.

  • The traffic signal will begin to operate in flashing mode on Monday, July 6, and will be fully operational on Thursday, July 9 at approximately 10 AM.

Radar Road new construction (Fleming Island) - Crews began construction on the new two-lane road connecting Radar Road to Town Center Boulevard at the existing roundabout on April 6. Drivers should anticipate daytime, single-lane closures and flaggers directing traffic for up to 390 days. Once completed, the project will provide a full connection from U.S. 17 to Town Center Boulevard and include bike lanes, curbs, gutters, and drainage improvements. A crosswalk is in place from the Fleming Island Library parking lot to the park entrance for pedestrians. Work started on Town Center Blvd. in the round a bout, please use caution as crews perform road construction in this area.

Sidewalk Projects

County Road 218 sidewalk replacement (Middleburg)- Crews anticipate beginning a sidewalk replacement project on June 22 on County Road 218 from Mallard Road to Wilkinson Junior High School. Work will include removing the existing asphalt sidewalk and replacing it with a 5-foot-wide concrete sidewalk. The project is expected to be complete mid to late July.
