Pursuant to the authority outlined in 36 C.F.R. § 1.5(a)(1), which provides that the Superintendent may "impose public use limits, or close all or a portion of a park area to all public use or to a specific use or activity," as necessary for the maintenance of public health and safety, Fort McHenry National Monument and Historic Shrine (Park) will be implementing a series of temporary closures to provide for the safety and security of all visitors during Sail250 airshow events.
The park will be closed to all vehicular traffic beginning at 7:00 a.m. on Friday, June 26, 2026, until 6:00 p.m. on Sunday, June 28, 2026. This closure is consistent with the closure of Fort Avenue at Andre Street implemented by the Baltimore City Department of Transportation and Baltimore Police Department. Parking inside the Park will not be available. Maryland Transit Authority will provide ADA-accessible bus service to the MTA stop at Fort Avenue and Wallace Street during this closure. The Park will be accessible on foot from the closure at the main entrance gate, with connections to ADA-accessible walking paths.
Further, the Seawall Trail at Whetstone Point will be closed to use from 10:00 a.m. until 4:30 p.m. on Friday, June 26, Saturday, June 27, and Sunday, June 28, 2026; and the Star Fort bastions and outer battery area will be closed from 11:00 a.m. until 4:30 p.m. on Friday, June 26, Saturday, June 27, and Sunday June 28, 2026. These closures are necessary for visitor safety and park management priorities during the events.
The Park's designated First Amendment areas will remain available during the entirety of the designated closure times.
Violating a closure, designation, use or activity restriction or condition, schedule of visiting hours, or public use limit is prohibited.
