Gilbert, Ariz. - The Town of Gilbert is proud to announce the appointment of Mario Paniagua as its newest Assistant Town Manager. With a distinguished public service career and a passion for community, Mario brings a wealth of experience and leadership to his new role.
"I am thrilled to be a part of the Town of Gilbert's exceptional and innovative team," said Mario Paniagua. "It is a real honor to serve and contribute to shaping the future of this outstanding community."
In his new position, Mario will oversee several key departments, including Parks and Recreation, the Office of Management and Budget, Finance and Management Services, and the People Team. His leadership will be instrumental in advancing Gilbert's strategic goals and delivering high-quality services to residents.
"We are excited to have Mario join our team," said Town Manager Patrick Banger. "His alignment with our core values and his extensive expertise will undoubtedly contribute to our continued success as Gilbert approaches build-out and beyond."
Mario began his public service career with the City of Phoenix in 1998, where he most recently served as Deputy City Manager overseeing Aviation, Public Transit, Public Works, and Sustainability. His previous roles include Budget and Research Director, City Clerk, Management Assistant in the Family Advocacy Center, and Human Resources Analyst in both the Human Resources and Aviation Departments. Throughout his career, Mario has been recognized for maintaining strong financial ratings, enhancing service delivery, and supporting elected officials and staff with integrity and dedication.
He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Global Business, summa cum laude, from Arizona State University and served seven years of active duty in the U.S. Air Force.
In addition to Mario's new position, the Town has reallocated departmental assignments to further enhance efficiency and collaboration. This includes creating an Engineering Department under the Town Manager's Office, previously part of Public Works, to support the Town's significant Capital Improvement Program.
