In mid-November, Safran Cabin CZ celebrated the official opening of its facility in Rokycany, Czech Republic. The new state-of-the-art plant had been operational since June.

From 18,000 m2 to 26,000 m2

Driven by increasing production demands for the Airbus A320 and space limitations at the historic Plzen site, the new Rokycany facility was established to enhance operational efficiency and accommodate growth. The 8,000 m² factory-dedicated to long-haul aircraft products-brings the total footprint of Safran Cabin's facilities in the Czech Republic to 26,000 m². The new site is responsible for producing crew rest modules for cargo areas, lavatories, and staircases for the Airbus A330, as well as next-generation galleys for Boeing 777 aircraft.

A strategic location

The location of the new factory is strategic: "Rokycany is situated near the highway, on the way to Prague, ensuring an efficient supply chain and streamlined logistics," Alexandre Atayi, Project Manager, explained. The proximity to the existing Plzen facilities, a short, 20-mn ride away, was another decisive factor. This location also provides access to a larger talent pool, crucial for meeting the significant recruitment needs as the site is expected to create up to 250 new jobs once it reaches full capacity.

State-of-the-art equipment

The new factory is equipped with cutting-edge technologies aimed at improving production capabilities, including advanced lighting and temperature control systems-crucial for adhesive operations. All critical processes were qualified before operations began to ensure high production standards.

Sustainability and Corporate Social Responsibility

The building was designed with sustainability in mind, and it achieved a BREEAM* "Very Good" rating for energy efficiency. In addition to the lighting and temperature management systems that optimize resource use, the installation of 1,400 m² of solar panels on the roof is planned.

To ensure a smooth launch, approximately 80 experienced employees were transferred from Plzen to Rokycany. "Many employees commute from Plzen, which is why partnerships with public transport organizations have been established," Dana Schwobova, the site's Human Resources Manager, explained. "Additionally, we are collaborating with the local employment agency to attract and recruit new talent from the surrounding area," she added.
