Telegraph Cruise returns this Saturday, July 26

Classic car enthusiasts and spectators from throughout Southeast Michigan converge on Telegraph Road for the annual "Telegraph Cruise" on Saturday, July 26. Official event hours are from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Saturday.

The cruise is always scheduled on the fourth Saturday of July each year. Many cars and crowds also gather the evening before for an unofficial kickoff.

Taylor Police ask cruise-goers to note the following:

  • Cruise-goers should note that no mini-bikes, golf carts or four-wheelers are allowed on the Taylor portion of the event
  • Taylor Police and the City of Taylor post signs clearly defining criminal violations
  • Police have a "zero tolerance" policy with items thrown into roadway, especially bleach
  • No "burn outs" by vehicles are allowed, They will be ticketed
  • Police close key side streets to eliminate any problems in surrounding neighborhoods
  • Telegraph Road is closed to north- and southbound traffic at approximately 10 p.m. at the end of the event
  • Police use outside agencies for assistance during the cruise
  • A plain clothes party patrol will circulate through the crowd

Spanning the communities of Taylor, Dearborn Heights, Dearborn and Redford Township, the event draws thousands of fans. Car club members and classic vehicle owners alike are encouraged to display their wares along Telegraph Road.

Several business owners and operators along the Telegraph corridor make their parking lots available to cruisers and spectators, while others are hosting other cruise-related events. Many businesses hold special events throughout the day. City officials caution that special event permits are required.

Originally the Telegraph Tomorrow Classic Car Cruise, it was named for the Telegraph Tomorrow Association that worked to improve and promote the U.S. 24 (Telegraph Road) corridor.
