The City of Lowell's 2026 Pavement Preservation work begins Friday, May 29, with roadway maintenance and surface treatment work scheduled throughout the construction season.
This year's program includes:
The work is part of the City's ongoing pavement management efforts to preserve roadway conditions, extend pavement life, and reduce the need for more costly reconstruction in the future.
Current Fog Seal Street Rotation
NOTE: This is the planned street rotation; however, if weather conditions or other factors arise, the street order may change, and work may be pushed to the next day.
About Fog Seal
Fog seal is a thin spray application of diluted asphalt emulsion that seals the pavement surface, slows oxidation, and extends the life of the road. It's a routine preservation treatment that goes down quickly and cures in a short window.
Traffic Impacts and Notifications
Residents on affected streets will be notified 48 hours prior to work, and temporary no-parking signs will be posted on site 48 hours in advance.
To minimize disruptions, work will be completed outside of peak traffic hours whenever possible. Short-term traffic impacts are expected, with temporary disruptions lasting 1-2 hours per location while materials dry and cure.
Traffic detour plans are coordinated with the Traffic Engineering Dept and the Lowell Police Dept for review on busier streets.
