Minister of Foreign Affairs to pay a visit to Vienna, Republic of Austria, to attend the Global Fraud Summit
On 16 - 17 March 2026, H.E. Mr. Sihasak Phuangketkeow, Minister of Foreign Affairs, will pay a visit to Vienna, Republic of Austria, to attend the Global Fraud Summit at the Vienna International Center (VIC), which is co-organized by the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) and the International Criminal Police Organization (INTERPOL). Senior representatives from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Digital Economy and Society, the Anti-Money Laundering Office, the Royal Thai Police, and the Office of the Attorney General will also be in attendance.
The Foreign Minister will reaffirm the Government's commitment to addressing the issue of fraud and strengthening international cooperation to combat fraud, particularly online scams, while maintaining momentum and reinforcing Thailand's leading role in advancing concrete progress in anti-fraud efforts at the international level. This will also build upon Thailand's role as co-host with the UNODC of the International Conference on the Global Partnership against Online Scams held on 17 - 18 December 2025 in Bangkok. The Foreign Minister will (1) deliver the opening remarks at the Plenary Session under the theme "Scam centres: The rising sophistication and cross-border impact of fraud"; (2) participate in the endorsement of two outcome documents of the Summit, namely the "Call to Action on Combating Fraud" and the "Global Public-Private Partnership Framework against Fraud"; (3) deliver Thailand's national pledge to combat fraud during the High-level Special Session on national commitment / pledges on combatting fraud; and (4) deliver the opening remarks at the UNODC side event titled "Intelligent threats with a global reach: The evolution of scam centres and cybercrime originating in Southeast Asia and targeting the world."
In addition, the Foreign Minister will hold discussions with the Federal Minister for European and International Affairs of Austria, as well as ministerial-level representatives of the United Kingdom and Singapore, to discuss cooperation in combating fraud and online scams, and to further strengthen cooperation between Thailand and these countries in various areas.
The Global Fraud Summit is convened to promote high-level dialogue aimed at advancing political commitment and law enforcement cooperation to combat fraud, while also strengthening cooperation among countries and across sectors in countering fraud, including prevention and suppression of online scams.
