Governor Polis Appoints Matthew T. Berumen to the Las Animas County Court in the 3rd Judicial District

DENVER - Today, Governor Polis appointed Matthew T. Berumen to the Las Animas County Court in the 3rd Judicial District. The appointment fills the vacancy created by the resignation of the Honorable John D. Mochel and is effective February 5, 2026.

Mr. Berumen is an Attorney at the Law Office of Kenneth E. Davidson, a position he has held since 2022. His practice consists of civil litigation. Previously, he was Corporate Counsel (2019-2022) and Chief Compliance Officer (2020-2022) at Credit Service Company, Inc; Affiliate Faculty at Metropolitan State University of Denver (2017-2021); Attorney at Greenberg & Sada, PC (2013-2018), Attorney at Vargo & Janson (2009-2013); Attorney at Matthew Berumen, PC (2005-2008); Attorney Takaki & Berumen, LLC (2002-2005); Attorney at the Law Office of Alfonso Cabral (2002); and Attorney at the Orchard Law Firm (1997-2002). Mr. Berumen earned his B.A. from Colorado State University in 1992 and his J.D. from Whittier Law School in 1997.
