Kansas City Expands Fountain Card Benefits Through New Working Advantage Partnership

Kansas City Expands Fountain Card Benefits Through New Working Advantage Partnership
Residents gain access to exclusive discounts on travel, shopping, and entertainment

For Immediate Release: Wednesday, December 24, 2025

Kansas City is expanding the value of its Fountain Card ID with a new partnership that puts everyday savings directly into residents' hands.

The Kansas City Health Department announced that Fountain Card cardholders now receive free access to Working Advantage, a nationwide savings program offering discounts on entertainment, travel, electronics, retail, fitness memberships, and more.

The Fountain Card is available at no cost to all Kansas City residents and is designed to remove barriers to accessing city services. The card can be used to connect residents to programs offered through Parks and Recreation, Water Services, and Public Works, and serves as a valid form of identification for many local purposes-particularly for residents who may not have a state-issued ID.

With the addition of Working Advantage, Fountain Card cardholders can now access benefits often reserved for employees of large organizations, including savings on movie tickets, theme parks, hotels, car rentals, and everyday shopping.

"Given the rising cost of living, this partnership adds meaningful value to the Fountain Card," said Dr. Marvia Jones, Director of the Kansas City Health Department. "The goal is to make this card not only a gateway to city services, but a practical tool that helps residents stretch their dollars and enjoy everyday experiences."

The Fountain Card was created to serve all residents, particularly those who face barriers to obtaining traditional identification, including individuals experiencing homelessness, returning citizens, immigrants, seniors, and others.

"Adding Working Advantage strengthens what the Fountain Card represents," said Jacqueline A. Dillard, Deputy Director of the Kansas City Health Department. "This is about belonging, opportunity, and access-for everyone in Kansas City."

How to Get a Fountain Card

Residents can receive a free Fountain Card at the Kansas City Health Department, 2400 Troost Ave. Current cardholders can visit the Fountain Card team to activate their Working Advantage account and begin accessing discounts. New cardholders can sign up onsite, with staff activating both the card and discount access immediately. An email address is required for activation.
