Congressman Shri Thanedar Secures $1,031,000 for Cybersecurity Operations Center at University of Detroit Mercy

Washington, DC - This week, Congressman Shri Thanedar secured $1,031,000 in federal funding for the University of Detroit Mercy. Thanedar fought to pass this funding as part of the Commerce, Justice, Science; Energy and Water Development; and Interior and Environment Appropriations Act of 2026. This critical investment will help establish a Cybersecurity Operations Center at the University of Detroit Mercy, in the heart of Michigan's 13th Congressional District.

"Since coming to Congress, I have made it a key priority to bring federal dollars back to every corner of my district," said Congressman Thanedar. "In Congress, I have brought Community Project Funding to all 20 towns in Michigan's 13th District for the first time in over 50 years. As a member of the Homeland Security Committee, I know firsthand the importance of cybersecurity facilities like these to protect Americans from the increasingly sophisticated cyber threats they face from at home and abroad. I am grateful for the partnership of the University of Detroit Mercy in making this facility a reality."
