Congressman Burchett Highlights Efforts to Stop Waste, Fraud, and Abuse in Federal Programs

Washington, D.C. (06/04/2026) -- As Chairman of the House Subcommittee on Delivering on Government Efficiency (DOGE), Congressman Burchett is working to ensure taxpayer dollars are spent responsibly and federal programs operate as intended.

Rep. Burchett introduced H.R. 8096, the Duplication Scoring Act, to identify and address federal programs that overlap or duplicate one another, helping reduce waste and improving government accountability. H.R. 8096 has passed the House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform.

Rep. Burchett also supported H.R. 7726, the No Funds for Repeat Child Care Violations Act, which holds states accountable when federal child care funds are repeatedly misused and helps ensure that assistance reaches the working families the programs were designed to support. H.R. 7726 passed the U.S. House of Representatives.

In addition, Rep. Burchett is working to pass H.R. 7892, the No Aid for Ghost Students Act, which targets criminals who use fake or stolen identities to enroll in classes and collect federal student aid. The legislation strengthens identity verification requirements to help prevent fraud and protect taxpayer-funded education programs.
