From Nov. 6-13, George Washington University students and the Division for Student Affairs are celebrating National First-Generation Week with events designed to support and connect "first-gen" members of the GW community.
In partnership with
GW First Gen United, events of the week include Grocery Bingo, which gave students the chance to win groceries and household essentials, and "
First-Gen, First Career" an opportunity for students to hear from successful professionals who were first-generation college students.
"We celebrate the accomplishments of GW's first-generation college students every day, but especially during National First-Generation Week we aim to make this community feel strong, supported and uplifted," said Vice Provost for Student Affairs and Dean of Students Colette Coleman.
"The Division for Student Affairs' Student Outreach and Support team is committed to giving first-gen students the resources and community bonds they need to thrive now and on their professional journeys."
