Ladies and gentlemen:
Good evening!
I am pleased to join you for this reception and sincerely thank Representative Reitberger for the kind invitation. Over the next two days, the very best of Sweden will be showcased. Cultural events such as this transcend borders and connect our peoples.
In Taiwan, Swedish culture has become woven into our daily lives through such iconic brands as Volvo, IKEA, and Spotify. The global success of their products highlights the important synergy between functional aesthetics and boundless innovation. Sweden provides an inspiring model for the world.
Sweden is also a pioneer in human rights and sustainability. Its success in these areas underscores the fact that excellence in high technology is compatible with gender equality and environmental protection. The Swedish way is laudable and can serve as a valuable reference for Taiwan's own path toward a greener and more inclusive tomorrow.
The Taiwan-Sweden friendship is founded on the many common values that we share. At a time when the rules-based international order is facing unprecedented challenges, our commitment to democratic principles has never been more vital. I would like to take this opportunity to thank Sweden for its continued support of Taiwan.
Moving forward, there is still great untapped potential for both sides to explore. From cutting-edge collaboration in semiconductors and 5G technology to climate change adaptation and health care, I have no doubt that our bilateral ties will help ensure a more resilient and sustainable future for all.
Tonight, let us celebrate the rich culture of Sweden and the enduring bond between our nations. I am confident that the Taiwan-Sweden partnership will steadily grow and flourish in the years to come. I wish this event every success. Thank you!
