In recognition of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, SGMC Health has launched its annual Pamper & Prevent campaign, encouraging women to prioritize their health by scheduling their annual mammogram. Through powerful patient stories, community outreach, and an exciting giveaway, SGMC Health aims to raise awareness about breast cancer prevention, screening, and treatment.

Now in its fifth year, Pamper & Prevent highlights real-life stories of local breast cancer survivors, offering inspiration and hope to women across South Georgia. These stories serve as a reminder of the importance of early detection and empower women to take charge of their health.

"As women, we often put others first," said Ene Grace Morgan, MD, OBGYN at SGMC Women's Health. "But breast cancer doesn't wait. Annual mammograms save lives, and I encourage every woman to make time for this critical screening."

To further support the community, SGMC Health is offering 150 free mammograms during October to individuals who demonstrate financial need, made possible through generous donations to the SGMC Health Foundation. The health system is also giving away a Pamper & Prevent gift package valued at $500, designed to help one lucky winner relax and recharge.

SGMC Health makes it easy to schedule a mammogram online and offers state-of-the-art screening with the Hologic Genius 3D Mammogram, which improves cancer detection by up to 65% and reduces callbacks by 40%. This advanced technology is available at the SGMC Imaging Center, SGMC Health Berrien, and SGMC Women's Health Patterson.

Breast cancer remains one of the most common cancers among women in the U.S., with 1 in 8 women diagnosed in their lifetime, according to the National Breast Cancer Foundation. SGMC Health's comprehensive breast cancer program includes imaging, surgery, and cutting-edge treatments through the Pearlman Cancer Center, accredited by the American College of Surgeons Commission on Cancer (CoC) and the American College of Radiology (ACR).
