The Oceanside Fire Department is empowering residents to be ready for any emergency through two free community education events in March:
LISTOS Disaster Preparedness Course
The comprehensive two-day LISTOS program will be held March 3-4, 2026, from 5:30-9:00 p.m. at the Oceanside Fire Department Training Center (110 Jones Rd). This intensive course covers critical survival skills including hazard identification for earthquakes, tsunamis, and wildfires; creating family communication and reunification plans; utility shut-off procedures; fire extinguisher use; first aid; and disaster psychology. Participants must attend both sessions to receive certification and will receive a free emergency preparedness prize. Share a flyer! The course is limited to 30 participants and registration is required at https://forms.office.com/g/pG9BM5ieqM.
Emergency Preparedness Presentation
On March 9, 2026, from 6:00-7:00 p.m., the Oceanside Fire Department will present a focused one-hour session at the Country Club Senior Center (455 Country Club Lane). This accessible program covers essential topics including understanding emergency alerts, navigating emergency apps, building "go bags," preparing pets for evacuation, planning evacuation routes, and identifying local hazards specific to Oceanside. Both events are part of Oceanside's broader emergency management strategy, which includes year-round community education, robust emergency response capabilities, and partnerships with regional emergency services. The city maintains active evacuation planning, early warning systems, and community preparedness programs designed to protect residents during wildfires, earthquakes, flooding, and other potential disasters.
Both events are free and open to all Oceanside residents.
