Linn County Services During Federal Government Shutdown

The federal government has shut down after Congress did not reach a funding agreement by midnight on September 30. Most County services and programs will continue without interruption at this time. Linn County is monitoring the federal shutdown and will update its website should this information change.

Recorder's Office

Services provided by the Linn County Recorder's Office are not impacted by the federal government shutdown. The Recorder's Office will continue to provide services, including processing passports, as usual. The shutdown could, however, impact passport processing times, so travelers should leave themselves sufficient time before any upcoming trips. You can check current processing times and track your passport application status at travel.state.gov.

Soil Conservation

As a partnering agency based out of the USDA Service Center in Marion, the Linn County Soil Conservation Department relies heavily on our USDA partner for office space, and a variety of physical and technical resources needed to work with landowners, agricultural producers, and the public upon request. While the federal government is shutdown, the USDA Service Center is closed and access to technical resources is limited. However, partnering staff in the Soil Conservation Department are available and can be reached by Linn County emails or by phone.

While state and federal cost share programs, technical support, and other resource-based services have been impacted by the federal government shutdown and are largely unavailable, please contact the Linn County Soil Conservation Department for services we may still be able to provide.

How to contact Soil Conservation staff:
