Nationwide supporting bid to bring National Women's Soccer League team to Columbus
We are proud to join the Haslam Sports Group and the Edwards family as a partner to propose bringing a National Women's Soccer League (NWSL) franchise to our hometown of Columbus.
Nationwide has been an official sponsor of the Columbus Crew since 2020 and the NWSL since 2021. Together with the NWSL, we established the Lauren Holiday Impact Award in 2024, annually recognizing the player who exemplifies exceptional service, leadership and character in their community.
Columbus is a natural fit for an NWSL team. The women's soccer community in Central Ohio is large, passionate, and long-standing. The city of Columbus has been a long-time destination for momentous U.S. Women's and Men's National Soccer Teams matches - this year we're looking forward to the SheBelieves Cup and the NWSL Challenge Cup.
Columbus' Arena District is primed and ready to host a second professional soccer club.
