Principles of inviolability of civilian infrastructure must be respected

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has strongly condemned the latest drone attack on infrastructure in the perimeter of the Barakah nuclear power plant, in the Al Dhafra region in the United Arab Emirates, as well as any act that may threaten the security of civilian and strategically important infrastructure.

The Ministry is following the information with serious concern, and recalls that preserving the security and protection of nuclear facilities intended for peacetime purposes is a shared responsibility of the international community and a principle established by relevant international norms and standards.

The Republic of Serbia remains consistently committed to respecting international law, the UN Charter and the principles that imply the inviolability of civilian infrastructure, as well as to resolving all disputes peacefully.

At the same time, solidarity with the United Arab Emirates is expressed and support is extended to efforts aimed at preserving stability, preventing further escalation, and strengthening security and peace in the region and beyond, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said in a statement.
