Pinellas County Utilities and the City of Pinellas Park have issued a precautionary boil water notice for all Pinellas Park residents following an extended water outage on Wednesday, June 17. Service has since been restored, but the notice remains in effect as a precaution.
Impacted residents should use bottled water or boiled tap water for cooking, drinking or personal hygiene like brushing your teeth.
When boiling tap water, you should:
If there is no way to boil water, residents can add 1/8 teaspoon (eight drops or about 0.5 milliliters) of unscented, plain bleach per gallon of water, stir well and let stand for at least 30 minutes before using. While this is less effective than boiling, it will work for those without access to bottled water or no way to boil water.
We will continue to test water quality until it has met safe drinking water standards for at least two days. We will issue an update when it is safe to resume regular water use. The boil water notice is a precaution until water testing can confirm water quality. For the latest updates visit Pinellas.gov/boil-water.
