Vice Foreign Minister Miao Deyu Attends Cameroon’s National Day Reception

On June 18, 2026, Vice Foreign Minister Miao Deyu attended the National Day reception hosted by the Embassy of Cameroon in China.

Miao Deyu congratulated Cameroon on its National Day, stating that over the 55 years since the establishment of diplomatic ties between China and Cameroon, the two countries have unswervingly remained trustworthy good friends and partners, setting an exemplary model for solidarity and cooperation among the Global South. Under the strategic guidance of the two heads of state, the China-Cameroon comprehensive strategic partnership has achieved in-depth development, delivering benefits to peoples of both countries. China has extended zero-tariff treatment to all 53 African countries having diplomatic relations with China, which will create more opportunities for China-Cameroon and China-Africa cooperation. When the Ebola epidemic struck unexpectedly, China immediately provided emergency humanitarian assistance to Africa and dispatched a medical expert team to offer support. Such concrete actions once again forcefully prove that China and Africa have always stood together through thick and thin. Continuing to act on the principles of sincerity, real results, amity, and good faith, and with a commitment to pursuing the greater good and shared interests, China will work with African countries to forge an all-weather China-Africa community with a shared future for the new era.

Ambassador of Cameroon to China Martin Mpana spoke highly of the traditional friendship between Cameroon and China. He said that over the past 55 years of joint progress, Cameroon and China have built a solid, pragmatic and fruitful comprehensive strategic partnership. Cameroon firmly adheres to the one-China principle and sincerely appreciates China's long-term support for Cameroon's economic and social development. As Cameroon's largest trading partner, China provides a stable market for Cameroonian export products. The Belt and Road Initiative and the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation have served as vital platforms for the two countries to carry out exemplary mutually beneficial cooperation. African countries are deeply grateful for China's zero-tariff policy covering all African diplomatic partners and its robust support in combating the Ebola epidemic. As Dean of the Diplomatic Corps in China, he will continue to commit himself to advancing Cameroon-China and Africa-China friendship.
