Denver Police Arrest Suspect in South Dayton Street Fatal Shooting

Denver - Wednesday, September 25, 2024 - Today, the Denver Police Department announces the arrest of Tyler Nelson (DOB: 4/8/94) for the homicide of an adult female, which occurred in an apartment in the 600 block of South Dayton Street.

At approximately 1:02 a.m., on Tuesday, September 24, 2024, Tyler Nelson called Denver 911 to report a shooting at his residence. DPD officers arrived on scene and located the adult female victim suffering from an apparent gunshot wound, and she was pronounced deceased on scene. Officers contacted Nelson, who was then transported by officers to be interviewed.

Through the course of the investigation, DPD investigators learned the suspect and victim, who live together, were involved in a verbal argument prior to the shooting, and based on the preliminary findings of the investigation, investigators arrested Nelson for investigation of First-Degree Murder.

Per standard protocol, the final determination of charges will be made by the Denver District Attorney's Office. The Office of the Medical Examiner will release the victim's identity and cause and manner of death.
