Argentina MY 2025/26 Summer Crop Production and MY 2026/27 Winter Crop Production

Argentina farmers produce a wide variety of crops during their summer crop season, including corn, soybeans, sunflowerseed, sorghum, peanuts, cotton and rice. The landscape is dominated by corn and soybean area, which together make up the core of Argentina's summer crop production. Argentina is ranked as the fourth largest corn producer and the third largest soybean producer in the world.

Corn in Argentina has a notably long growing season with two distinct periods. Early planted corn begins in late September and continues through early December; and late-planted corn occurs from early December until early February. Corn is grown primarily in Córdoba, Buenos Aires, Santa Fe and Santiago del Estero provinces (see figure 1).

Soybeans are produced in in Buenos Aires, Córdoba, Santa Fe, and Santiago del Estero provinces (see figure 2). Argentina grows either first or second soybeans. First soybeans are planted on previously fallow fields and are typically higher yielding (see figure 3). Second soybeans are planted on the same field following the winter crop harvest. These are typically lower yielding due to a shorter growing season and being planted in soil leached of nutrients and soil moisture by the winter crop. Soybeans
