FWC: 2025 Black Bear Harvest Fact Sheet Available
A summary of key data points from the 2025 black bear season is now available at MyFWC.com/BearHunting. Additional data for a comprehensive harvest report is still being collected and analyzed, and the full report will be available in the future.
Notable information includes:
- Florida residents purchased 97% (166) of the 172 permits sold.
- Over the course of the 23-day season, 52 bears were harvested statewide, resulting in a minimum hunter success rate of 30.2%. This may increase based on hunter survey information currently being collected.
- 46% (24) of the harvested bears were female, 54% (28) were male.
- Biological information was collected from all harvested bears by an FWC biologist or contractor.
- All bears harvested met the size requirements of the hunt. No warnings or citations were issued for violations of bear hunting rules.
