Chairman Rick Scott, Ranking Member Kirsten Gillibrand to Hold Hearing on Strengthening U.S. Pharmaceutical Manufacturing to Compete with China, India
WASHINGTON, D.C.- On Wednesday, September 23, U.S. Senator Rick Scott, Chairman of the Senate Special Committee on Aging, and Ranking Member Kirsten Gillibrand will hold a hearing to highlight how the U.S. government can help bring back generic drug manufacturing and secure the U.S. pharmaceutical supply chain.
The hearing, titled "Leveling the Playing Field: Restoring America's Edge in Generic Drug Manufacturing" will identify bureaucratic hurdles and permitting delays that discourage American pharmaceutical manufacturing. By maintaining rigorous quality standards and protecting patients, older Americans will have consistent access to safe, essential medicines.
Witnesses for the hearing will include:

- Christine Baeder, President, Apotex USA and LATAM, Weston, FL
- Mihir Torsekar, Senior Economist, Coalition for a Prosperous America, Washington, D.C.
