POSITION INFORMATION:

Liberty Consolidated Planning Commission, a joint planning agency serving Liberty County and its seven municipal governments, is looking for a zoning administrator. The zoning administrator is responsible for reviewing, processing, and monitoring City and County development plans for compliance with local zoning and land development ordinances and providing support for long-range planning projects including comprehensive plan updates, ordinance amendments,

JOB SUMMARY:

The job duties consist of performing tasks related to developmental land use and zoning, regulatory enforcement, and data management and research. The zoning administrator processes zoning applications, special permit uses, variances, municipal annexations and general development plans. The position requires cooperation with a variety of stakeholders, including LCPC and local government staff, local elected and appointed officials, and members of the general public. Principal duties will be performed in a general office environment and occasional field work sites. The work will be performed under the direct supervision of the Executive Director.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelors degree or any combination of education, training and experience equivalent thereto;
  • Possession of a valid Georgia Driver's License;
  • Knowledge of the principles, practices and techniques of urban planning and development issues;
  • Ability to analyze and evaluate pertinent planning and zoning data;
  • Ability to communicate well with others, both orally and in writing, using both technical and non-technical language; ability to speak in front of a body of public officials
  • Ability to prepare and present accurate and reliable reports containing findings and recommendations;
  • Ability to operate a personal computer using standard or customized software applications appropriate to assigned tasks
  • Ability and willingness to quickly learn and put to use new skills and knowledge brought about by rapidly changing information and/or technology (GIS); and
  • Knowledge of local government is a must.

SALARY:

The minimum salary for this position is $53,006.
