DeLauro Statement on Firing of Attorney General Pam Bondi

Today, Congresswoman Rosa DeLauro (CT-03) released a statement following reports that Attorney General Pam Bondi was fired by President Donald Trump.

"Pam Bondi politicized the Department of Justice. She went after President Trump's perceived political enemies and utterly failed to stand up for victims of crime - particularly the victims of Jeffrey Epstein and his known associates, many of whom reside in the White House and work in the administration today.

"While I am glad she is removed from power, we must be clear-eyed about what comes next. President Trump will pick a replacement who will go further than Pam Bondi did in weaponizing the Department of Justice for his political retribution and gain. We cannot let that happen. Congress must reassert itself as an independent branch of government with oversight responsibilities over the Executive. Anything less risks an authoritarian takeover of our government."
