The Barbara Ann Karmanos Cancer Institute has rolled out Tully Tube™ as its standard prescription vial across its pharmacy operations in both Detroit and Farmington Hills. Following a successful pilot, Karmanos has made Parcel Health's Tully Tube™ its packaging of choice, replacing single-use plastic pill bottles system-wide at both locations. Tully Tube is the world's first paper-based prescription vial.
Karmanos' pharmacies at the flagship cancer hospital in Detroit and the Farmington Hills campus serve patients navigating cancer treatment. The decision to adopt the Tully Tube across both sites reflects Karmanos' commitment to advancing patient-centered care.
"Sustainability in health care starts with materials that work better for patients, providers and the planet," said Paul Schroff, R.Ph., retail pharmacy supervisor at Karmanos. "After seeing how the Tully Tube™ performed in our pharmacy operations and how patients responded, the decision to adopt it across both locations was clear."
Parcel Health's Tully Tube™ is engineered to meet pharmacy-grade safety and performance standards, including moisture resistance and child-resistant features, without compromising functionality. Having validated its fit within pharmacy workflows and dispensing technology, Karmanos pharmacy teams now dispense prescriptions in Tully Tubes across both the Detroit and Farmington Hills locations.
"Karmanos is known for its evidence-based approach to everything they do, including how they think about their patients' experience beyond the clinical encounter. This new rollout is a powerful validation," said Melinda Su-En Lee, co-founder and CEO of Parcel Health. "We're proud to support Karmanos in delivering a better experience for patients at some of the most important moments in their care."
The Tully Tube integrates into existing pharmacy dispensing workflows and is compatible with standard pharmacy systems and workflows. Karmanos joins a growing list of leading health systems, including Dartmouth Health, Allegheny Health Network, and Wellstar Health System, that have adopted Parcel Health's sustainable packaging solutions.
