The Connecticut Department of Transportation (CTDOT) is announcing that a milling and resurfacing project will be performed on Route 1 in Westport. This project is scheduled to occur on Wednesday, May 13 and be completed on Friday, May 22, 2026. The project DOT01730557CN consists of milling and resurfacing a 0.98-mile segment of Route 1 Westport from Route 136 (Compo Road South to State Service Road 476 northbound (Sherwood Island Connector). This project is scheduled to begin milling by Burns Construction on Wednesday May 13, to Friday, May 15, 2026. The resurfacing segment of this project by Tilcon Sunday May 17, to Friday, May 22, 2026.
This project is included in CTDOT's 2026 Vendor Resurfacing Program.
LANE CLOSURE/DETOUR INFO
Motorists can expect lane closures of Route 1 from Route 136 (Compo Road South) to State Service Road 476 northbound (Sherwood Island Connector). Traffic control personnel and signing patterns will guide motorists through the work zone. The work schedule for this project is from 7:00 p.m. to 5:00 a.m., Sunday night to Friday morning.
Motorists should be aware that modifications or extensions to this schedule may become necessary due to weather delays or other unforeseen conditions. Motorists are advised to maintain a safe speed when driving in this area.
