Two men charged in relation to Agnes Street homicide: C26-33059/C26-63814

Update:

The Homicide Unit continued to investigate the murder of 21-year-old Jeremiah Riley BATEMAN, who was assaulted on February 11, and succumbed to his injuries on February 14, 2026.

Investigators identified two suspects:

  • 28-year-old Michael James Jason GUIMOND
  • 26-year-old Jonathan Ryan SINCLAIR

On March 19, 2026, at 10:37 a.m., officers attended a residence in the 300 block of Mountain Avenue for the purpose of arresting Michael James Jason GUIMOND. The incident developed into an armed and barricaded situation requiring the deployment of Critical Incident Command.

At approximately 4:45 p.m., with assistance from General Patrol, the Tactical Support Team, the Drone Unit, the Traffic Division, the Bail Compliance Unit, the Manitoba Integrated Violent Offender Apprehension Unit, Crisis Negotiators, and School Resource Officers, GUIMOND was safely taken into custody after a long standoff with police. No injuries were reported.

GUIMOND has been charged with Manslaughter and remains in custody.

On March 22, 2026, at approx. 11:45 p.m., Jonathan Ryan SINCLAIR was arrested in the 100 block of Brazier St without incident and has been charged with Second Degree Murder. He was detained in custody.

As previously released:

On February 11, 2026, at 6:55 a.m., the Winnipeg Police Service responded to a residence in the 600 block of Agnes Street for the report of an injured male from a shooting incident.

Multiple Units from across the city, including specialty units, attended the residence where a 21-year-old male suffering from a life-threatening upper body injury was located. Officers provided life-saving measures to the victim before he was transported to hospital by ambulance in critical condition.

The victim was identified as Jeremiah Riley BATEMAN.

On February 14, he succumbed to his injuries, and the Homicide Unit is continuing to investigate.

No arrests have been made at this time, and investigators are seeking assistance from the public.
