On 10 June 2026, H.E. Mr. Sihasak Phuangketkeow, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Thailand, met with H.E. Mr. Le Tien Chau, Deputy Prime Minister of the Socialist Republic of Viet Nam, on the sidelines of the 31st Nikkei Forum Future of Asia in Tokyo.

Thailand and Viet Nam reiterated their endeavours to advance bilateral cooperations, especially in light of the establishment of their 50th diplomatic relations this year.

Both sides also appreciated the outcome of recent exchanges of high-level visits, leading to an elevation of Thailand - Viet Nam diplomatic relations to Comprehensive Strategic Partnership. The Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs emphasized the importance of Thai private sectors in trade and investment in Viet Nam and also agreed to extend areas of cooperation such as green transition, semiconductors, special urban planning, intelligence sharing and people-to-people exchanges, to keep the positive momentum and excel tangible results after the visits.
