ICYMI: Rep. McBride Reflects on Her First Year in Congress in News Journal Op-Ed

WILMINGTON, DE -In case you missed it, Delaware's Congresswoman Sarah McBride penned an op-ed in the Delaware News Journalreflecting on her first year in Congress and outlining her continued commitment to standing up for Delaware families and delivering real results for the state.

The piece, titled "I fight to protect Delaware. And I'll keep going,"McBride describes how her work in Congress has been shaped by rising costs, threats to health care and democracy, and the everyday challenges Delawareans are facing - while making clear that progress is still possible when leaders put people over politics.

"When I was sworn in as Delaware's member of Congress, I made a simple promise," McBride wrote,"I would work with anyone willing to deliver for Delaware, and I would stand up to anyone who would hurt Delawareans."

The op-ed details McBride's efforts to protect Medicaid and Medicare, defend the rule of law, restore funding cut by the Trump administration and bring federal resources back to Delaware, all while helping constitutions navigate federal agencies and resolve real-life problems.

McBride highlighted several accomplishments from her first year in office, including:

• Helping over 800 Delawareans through constituent casework, returning nearly $4 million directly to their families;
• Securing more than $200 million in federal grant funding for Delaware communities, hospitals, nonprofits, research and local governments;
• Advancing over $76 million in new direct federal investment across the state;
• Leading bipartisan efforts to restore funding for Delaware manufacturers;
• Protecting home health care for seniors, and;
• Lowering utility costs through innovative technology developed in Delaware.

The op-ed also underscores McBride's belief that effective leadership means standing firm on values while still working across the aisle to deliver results.

"Delawareans know something Washington sometimes forgets," McBride writes."You can stand for your values and still work together where common ground exists. That's how we deliver results."

As she begins her second year in Congress, McBride reiterated her focus on defending democracy, lowering costs, and making government work better for the people it serves.
