On September 3rd, 2025, Detectives with the Special Investigations Unit (SIU) followed up on information provided by the Liberty Lake Police Department as well as Idaho that a wanted fugitive was possibly in the Spokane area. The State of Idaho had issued an extraditable felony warrant for parole violations stemming from an assault charge for Colton Hite, 29.

The City Of Liberty Lake also had signed affidavits charging Hite with multiple counts of Unlawful Imprisonment, Reckless Endangerment and Attempting to Elude a Police Vehicle. SIU Detectives followed up on the case and through their investigative efforts, found a possible related address in the 900 block of West Maxwell. SIU was also advised that Hite was possibly armed and had made comments about not wanting to go back to prison.

Upon seeing Hite at the residence at 6:30 p.m., multiple specialty units responded to the home to include SPD SWAT, Hostage Negotiators, and the Air Support Unit. Officers then quickly surrounded the home. As communication efforts commenced, Hite was contacted in the yard of the residence where he was taken into custody without issue. Hite was unarmed when contacted.

Colton Hite was arrested and transported to the Spokane County Jail. He was booked on the outstanding warrant from Idaho as well as new charges of Attempting to Elude a Police Vehicle, two counts of Unlawful Imprisonment and two counts of Reckless Endangerment.
