UPPER TOWNSHIP, N.J.-- Beginning on Wednesday September 10, and extending until Tuesday September 16, Mill Road (CR 557) in Upper Township will be resurfaced. The project limits extend from Ocean Road west to North Dennis-Marshallville Road (CR 557) in Upper Township. The roadway will be milled to a depth of 5" and a new asphalt base course and surface course will be installed. Due to the conditions of the existing horizontal curves, portions of the roadway will also require leveling with asphalt base course resulting in the raising of the existing adverse crowns along the curves.
To safely execute the work, Mill Road will be closed to thru traffic between Reading Avenue to North Dennis -Marshallville Road during active periods of construction, typically 7:00am to 5:00pm. Thru traffic will be detoured in both directions around the work zone. Local traffic and emergency vehicles will always have access along the roadway that is under construction, however access will be limited to one active lane with alternating traffic. Motorists entering the work zone are urged to use caution and to expect delays. Normal traffic patterns will resume at the end of each work shift; however, motorists are urged to use caution as there will be uneven lanes, rough riding surfaces and unmarked travel lanes.
Traffic travelling north along North Dennis -Marshallville Road (Cr 557) and wishing to turn east onto Mill Road will be directed north to State highway Route 49. Traffic will then be directed east along Route 49 then south onto Reding Avenue and back to Mill Road. Traffic heading west along Reading Avenue/ Mill Road (CR 557) off State Highway 50 will be detoured at the Reading Avenue intersection and will head north along Reading Avenue to Route 49. Traffic will then be directed west along Route 49.
