Great stories don't end when you reach the last page. Sometimes, that's where they begin again.
It all starts with a book: the imagination of the person who wrote it, and of the person who first read it. When screenwriters, directors and creative teams decide to bring that story to the screen, they bring a fresh perspective, a different approach - sometimes a different era or setting. And then something curious happens: those who already knew the book rediscovered it, and those who had never heard of it often ended up opening its pages for the first time. Bridgerton , Heartstopper and El Eternauta are just a few examples of this effect.
In Spain, The Snow Girl , by Javier Castillo, and Valeria , by Elísabet Benavent, show just how far this can go: new languages, new publishers, readers in countries these stories had never reached before.
For Javier Castillo, "Working with Netflix on the adaptations of my novels is one of the greatest achievements of my literary career. Netflix and I share the same ambition: to bring unique, universal stories into homes all over the world, and I know I couldn't have found a better partner to turn my dark literary universe into a global phenomenon".
Our members aren't satisfied with just watching a great story: they want to live it. And often, living it means going back to the book that made it possible. Behind every adaptation is a team that believes in that story as much as the person who wrote it did, whose goal is for it to connect with audiences on screen, without losing what made it special in the first place.
