USDA Announces $200,000 for Caro District Library Accessibility

U.S. Department of Agriculture Rural Development Michigan State Director Dom Restuccia today announced a $200,000 grant for the Caro District Library.

"Libraries hold a special place in rural communities, and accessibility is a key concern," said Restuccia. "Thanks to the leadership of President Donald Trump and Agriculture Secretary Brooke Rollins, we are able to help communities make their facilities more accessible and give them resources they would not have had."

USDA funding will help the library install an elevator. The project will replace the library's nearly 50-year-old elevator, which can no longer be repaired due to obsolete parts and outdated technology.

Rural Development's Community Facilities Program provided funding for the project. The program offers direct loans, loan guarantees and grants to develop or improve essential public services and facilities in rural communities.

These investments strengthen critical community infrastructure, enhance quality of life, and help rural towns attract and retain businesses and services. Discover more investment details and historical data in the Rural Data Gateway and learn more about the agency at www.rd.usda.gov/mi .
