Five employees were selected to receive the University's 2025 Outstanding Staff Awards from a pool of exceptional staff nominations.
These five employees were honored by University of Toledo President James Holloway on Thursday, Dec. 18, at a private ceremony to recognize their significant impact to the University through outstanding dedication and accomplishments; a demonstrated commitment to the University's core purpose; and through exceptional leadership and loyalty to the University.

The winners are:
Kimberly Blausey, paralegal in the College of Law. She started in 2015 as secretary 1.
"Kimberly exemplifies UToledo's mission of improving the human condition through service, learning and professional excellence. She empowers students to develop into skilled, ethical professionals and help sustain a learning environment rooted in equity, empathy and impact. She shows initiative by anticipating needs before they arise - whether coordinating clinic placements, supporting students through application and onboarding processes, or managing client communications with compassion and efficiency."
"She leads by example - modeling professionalism, integrity and grace under pressure. Her ability to manage complex workflows across multiple legal clinics and externship programs is a testament to her organizational leadership. Kimberly's leadership is also evident in the way others gravitate toward her for guidance and support. Faculty depends on her institutional knowledge, students look to her as a role model and clients feel seen and respected in her care."
Ken Fry, assistant chief nursing officer for nursing services administration. He started in 2018 as an infection preventionist.
"Ken is a leader who always keeps the bigger picture in focus. He doesn't just manage day-to-day operations; he inspires people with a clear vision for growth and progress. His ability to communicate where the team is headed - and why it matters - motivates those around him to move forward with confidence. Rather than seeing challenges as setbacks, Ken views them as opportunities for innovation."
"Ken truly bleeds University of Toledo colors. His passion for UToledo goes far beyond a professional role - it's part of who he is. He constantly looks for ways to strengthen the connection between the hospital and the University, ensuring that students have the opportunities, resources and experiences they need to succeed."
Josh Krupinski, director of food and nutrition services. He started at University of Toledo Medical Center in 2012.
"Working alongside Josh for the last 14 years has been an incredible joy. He treats every person like a friend and refuses to let his team struggle. He partnered with the UT Foundation, College of Health and Human Services and Pathways Toledo to develop a food recovery program, where leftover food from the patient kitchen is repackaged and delivered to at-risk seniors in the community, receiving a meal and wellness check from our HHS students and UT volunteers. Josh also has worked with Outcome Management and the Islamic Food Bank to provide food-insecure, discharged patients with a three-day meal pack and informational materials to help them get access to assistance once they leave the hospital."
"What really makes Josh an outstanding leader, however, is how he takes time to develop his teams so that they can become even better leaders themselves. Josh strives to provide all staff with a path to grow within UToledo. His goal isn't just to have a body in a position; it's to make a lifelong UToledo partner that continues to advance and enhance their quality of life, making the entire organization stronger as a whole. He is a leader that is firm but fair, listens but not judges and actively tries to make each day better than the last."
Jenna VanWinkle, expressive therapist in the Department of Senior Behavioral Health. She joined UTMC in 2017.
"Jenna consistently takes an active role in efforts to enhance the functioning of both the unit and the department, aligning with UToledo's mission to deliver high-quality care. She works with a particularly challenging and often underserved population, ensuring that every patient feels welcomed, supported and valued."
"What truly sets Jenna apart is her initiative and reliability during times of transition and change. She actively trains and mentors new team members, ensuring they feel supported, competent and integrated into our therapeutic environment. Though she is not in a leadership position, she demonstrates leadership qualities through her actions, positive attitude and genuine care for the people she serves and works alongside."
Rubye Wise, program accreditation specialist in the Department of Pharmacy Practice. She first started in 2001 as an inventory control specialist 1.
"Rubye exemplifies a staff member who motivates others, innovates and models ethical excellence. Rubye always has the best interest of the University in mind. She not only makes sure that she is putting the University first and showing it in the best light, but she also encourages those around her to do the same.
"Rubye represents the college with warmth and authenticity - her friendly demeanor, professionalism and sincere care make her a valued and memorable presence for students, visitors and community partners alike."
