On February 22nd, Charge d'Affaires a.i. Wang Yuan of the Chinese Embassy in Fiji attended the "Embracing the Chinese New Year · Fiji Folklife Festival", celebrating the Chinese new year with Fijian Deputy Prime Minister Viliame Gavoka, several ministers and members of parliament, overseas Chinese, and nearly a thousand people from local communities.
Wang Yuan extended New Year greetings to the overseas Chinese, acknowledged the achievements of the Fijian Chinese community, and encouraged them to contribute to promoting China-Fiji cooperation, spreading Chinese culture, and building a harmonious Chinese community. He emphasized that people from both sides of the Taiwan Strait share the same roots, culture, and language, and the historical trend that China will and must achieve reunification is unstoppable.
Deputy Prime Minister Gavoka conveyed New Year blessings on behalf of the Fijian government, reviewed key moments in bilateral relations, thanked Chinese communities for their contributions to Fiji's social development, expressed anticipation for deepening cooperation with China in tourism and other fields, welcomed more Chinese tourists to Fiji, and wished for greater progress in Fiji-China relations in the Year of the Horse.
All guests jointly enjoyed cultural performances, visited festival booths, and experienced the festive atmosphere.
