Finstad Calls on Senate to End Political Stunts, Fund Department of Homeland Security Immediately

WASHINGTON, D.C. - Today, Congressman Brad Finstad (MN-01) released the following statement calling on Senate Democrats to pass the House-approved Department of Homeland Security (DHS) funding bill rather than allowing a reckless shutdown that will jeopardize America's national security: <_o3a_p>

"It's shameful that, once again, Senate Democrats are putting partisanship above the needs of the American people. The Senate's failure to fund the Department of Homeland Security recklessly puts our national security at risk by irresponsibly jeopardizing Coast Guard, FEMA, and TSA operations. <_o3a_p>

"In the House, we did our job by passing full-year DHS funding on January 22nd with bipartisan support. Now, because of their political stunts, Senator Klobuchar, Senator Smith, and their Democrat colleagues are holding critical DHS funding hostage. I urge my colleagues in the Senate to put politics aside and end the chaos and disruption this shutdown will bring to our Coast Guard, emergency response services, and airport security." <_o3a_p>
